CARDI Representative Reveals Partnership Plans with Ministry of Agriculture

A representative from The Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) has revealed partnership plans between the organization and the Ministry of Agriculture here.

CARDI representative from Antigua, Junior Greene was on a five-day working visit to Montserrat, to deliver corn and hot pepper seeds, meet with the minister and director of agriculture to confirm their plans for the improvements of small ruminants, and finalize the delivery of coconut seed nuts to the island.

Former Premier of Montserrat and Opposition Member, Honourable Donaldson Romeo, has written to the United Kingdom Secretary of State, outlining the severe risks to the lives and economy of Montserrat.

Ministry of Health on Montserrat on High Alert for Mpox

The Ministry of health here is on high alert after the recent announcement by the World Health Organization (WHO) that the recent mpox outbreak is a public health emergency of international concern.

The WHO stated that the outbreak started in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has spread to other African countries.

And even though no cases of mpox have been reported in the Caribbean to date, the Ministry of Health has said that it will leave no stone unturned per adventure the virus reaches Caribbean shores.
