Ministry of Health on Montserrat on High Alert for Mpox

The Ministry of health here is on high alert after the recent announcement by the World Health Organization (WHO) that the recent mpox outbreak is a public health emergency of international concern.

The WHO stated that the outbreak started in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has spread to other African countries.

And even though no cases of mpox have been reported in the Caribbean to date, the Ministry of Health has said that it will leave no stone unturned per adventure the virus reaches Caribbean shores.

Director of Primary Health Care and epidemiologist Dorothea Hazel-Blake and Lead on communicable and non-communicable diseases Dr. Georgette Skerritt appeared on the “talking Health'“ radio programme Wednesday to share some information with the public.

Dr. Skerritt started out by educating the public on the symptoms associated with mpox.
