Local Pediatrician Calls for Early Intervention to Diagnose Children with Disabilities on Montserrat

A call was made for early intervention to diagnosed children with disabilities on island.

The challenge was issued by Dr. Sylvia Paz, pediatrician in the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

Speaking at the consultation workshop this week to create Montserrat’s first policy on disability, Dr. Paz proposed that early diagnosis would create more opportunities and improvements in the quality of life of the children.

Education Leaders in Montserrat Encourage Student Interest in the Teaching Profession

Leaders in the education sector on Montserrat want to build students’ interest in the teaching profession.

On the radio programme MSS: Embracing Quality Education, the guidance counselor at the Montserrat Secondary School, Vandina St. Helair addressed the apparent lack of interest in the profession.

She compared the current interest with past performance, where students sometimes taught right after leaving school.

Lindorna Sweeney Confirmed as Next Deputy Governor Effective September 1, 2024

Mrs Lyndell Simpson, the current Deputy Governor, as previously announced, will exit the post at the end of July 2024, having completed several years of service,  including being Acting Governor on numerous occasions.

Montserrat Customs and Revenue Service Ends Two-Week Training Course in Auditing and Analyzing Financial Statements

Thirteen members of staff both from the Inland Revenue Division and the Customs Division are now better equipped to deal with tasks associated with auditing and analyzing financial statements.

And this, after they participated in a recent two-week training course for the Montserrat Customs and Revenue Service (MCRS) in “Auditing and Analyzing Financial Statements.”
