Fogging Last Resort in Efforts to Control Mosquitoes on Island

Principal Environmental Health Officer, Garrett Stanley, has been explaining that fogging is a last resort in their efforts to control mosquitoes on island.

Speaking on the latest “Talking Health” radio programme, Stanley, outlined that their first action is usually to control mosquito larvae, followed by physical control (i.e source reduction) and then biological chemical.

He says that fogging is done in very special situations because of the negative impact it can have on certain vulnerable people in the community, as well as bees and butterflies etc.

Mr Stanley also points out some of the precautions they take when they are carrying out fogging exercises in the community.
