New Mammography Machine on Montserrat

The new Mammography Machine has arrived on island.

The Project Management Office (PMO), together with the Montserrat Ministry of Health & Social Services have confirmed that the new 3D Mammography machine, which was sourced in the USA, arrived on island Monday.

This high-quality machine will enable new screening and diagnostic services to be provided in Montserrat later this year.

The programme of site preparation for installation, and commissioning will soon begin, supported by additional radiographer training.

Improved access to breast screening helps early detection, improves health outcomes and saves lives.

Having this service available in Montserrat, reduces barriers to screening, and therefore represents a truly transformational healthcare improvement, particularly for women, but also for men.

This new 3D mammography equipment is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO’s) Essential Equipment Programme for Montserrat, and managed by the Programme Management Office within the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management.
