New Junior Calypso Monarch Crowned for 2025
A new Junior Calypso Monarch has been crowned for 2025.
She is Innistia Morson.
Heritage village in Salem, came alive Sunday evening, as twelve young calypsonians competed in the Junior Calypso Monarch Competition.
In a thrilling showdown, Morson, stage name “Inniss”, secured 263 points with an impressive performance of the song titled “Show us”, written by her father and Former Calypso monarch Keithroy “De Voice” Morson.
Young Morson takes the crown from Former Monarch, Sheviyona ‘Blessings’ Thomas.
The competition was fierce, with Athalia Williams, Emerald Empress, claiming the 1st runner-up position with 250 points. She performed the song “Heroes of Montserrat” written by Crystal Cummings Beckles & Pycko Williams.
Following closely behind, was Tray “Mighty Tray” Boyle in 2nd runner-up position with 236 points after doing a song title “Safari City” written by Kelvin Tabu Duberry, while Yjo-Viaz Thomas-Carbon secured the 3rd runner-up title with 209 points from the song “Save the Environment”
The competition provided a platform for young artists to showcase their lyrical prowess, stage presence, and passion for calypso music.
