Government Backs Breakfast Program for Vulnerable Students

The United Alliance administration is throwing its full support behind an initiative supporting vulnerable children at the island’s schools.

Minister for Education Dr., the Honourable Ingrid Buffonge announced that a breakfast programme is being planned for schools on island.

This is to ensure that students from households who are struggling are able to receive a healthy breakfast at school.

Dr. Buffonge credited the drive to the Student Leadership Team at the Montserrat Secondary School (MSS), praising them for the initiative.

The Education minister was at the time outlining a number of steps the government would take to alleviate hardships.

Other initiatives being discussed include the provision of affordable housing for persons of all income, and support for small businesses through grants and assistance in finding markets overseas for their products.
