MVO Director Eases Public Concern Regarding Soufriere Hills’ Recent Rockfall

The recent rockfall at the Soufriere Hills Volcano is not a cause for concern.

This, from the director of the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO), Dr. Graham Ryan, who sought to relieve public fear, in an interview on ZJB Radio on Tuesday.

Concerns were raised after the MVO posted a video on Facebook of a sizable rockfall inside the 2010 collapse scar.

However, Dr. Ryan says rockfall at the volcano is normal.

Although the dome remains stable, Dr. Ryan reminds residents that the volcano is still active, adding the importance of staying aware.
