Montserrat Government Plans Price-Cap on Airline Tickets Pending Funding

The Government of Montserrat has announced plans to implement a price-cap arrangement with current airlines to reduce ticket prices subject to the availability of financing.

In making the announcement in the Legislative Assembly Tuesday morning, Premier and minister with responsibility for Access, the Honourable Reuben T. Meade stated that this initiative would be for the next twelve months, subject to the availability of Financing.

The access minister was responding to a question posed in the Legislative Assembly earlier today by Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition, Honourable Paul Lewis as to why ticket costs for passengers traveling on Fly Montserrat and SVG Air are not subsidized as against the alleged subsidized contractual arrangement of WINAIR.
