National Hurricane Centre Releases 2025 Storm Names

The National Hurricane Centre has officially released the list of storm names for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

The Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, annually, is the time when tropical or subtropical cyclones are most likely to form in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The full list of names for 2025 includes Andrea, Barry, Chantal, Dexter, Erin, Fernand, Gabrielle, Humberto, Imelda, Jerry, Karen, Lorenzo, Melissa, Nestor, Olga, Pablo, Rebekah, Sebastien, Tanya, Van, and Wendy.

The announcement comes on the heels of the ninth consecutive above-average hurricane season in 2024, which saw 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes, and five major hurricanes.

Hurricane Beryl was among the most impactful storms of 2024 making history as the earliest Category 5 hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic basin.

The July storm caused widespread devastation, particularly affecting Carriacou and Petite Martinique in Grenada, as well as Union Island, Canouan, and Mayreau in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
