Digicel Restores Services Following Rat Infestation Damage to Fibre Optic Cables in Forgathy Area
One of the island’s telecommunication services has sought to provide residents with an answer for recent interruptions to it’s services.
The Digicel team issued a notice explaining that an infestation of rats caused significant damage to the fibre optic cables in the Forgathy area.
This situation it says led to service disruptions in the surrounding area.
Digicel told ZJB News Tuesday that services has been restored in the affected areas.
The team thanks the community for their patience and understanding as they addressed the unexpected challenge.
Meantime, ZJB News reached out to the Environmental Health Department to ascertain their feedback on the matter.
The department says they are aware of the situation and is collaborating with the Digicel team to address the matter effectively.
They say following assessments, the ducts have been sealed and continuous monitoring of the area will take place.
When asked whether there is a rat infestation problem on Montserrat, Principal Environmental Health Officer Garrett Stanley had this to say.
