Summer Music School Facilitators Stress Importance of Music to Child Development
People who learn instruments and sing are more likely to have a higher degree of academic success.
Two facilitators of the Small Beginnings Orchestra ongoing summer school are encouraging parents to involve their children in creative arts to make them more well-rounded individuals.
Head of the Guernsey Music Service, Tim Wright, says that studies have been completed recently that show the correlation between learning a musical instrument and gaining better academic results.
He says there have been additional discussions concerning continuing the summer school programme here.
Founder of the orchestra, Herman Francis, says that parents should expose their children to more music and activity.
He says he is always proud to see former students whenever they perform.
