Premier Farrell Gives Final Speech as Premier in Legislative Assembly
Premier, the Honourable Joseph Farrell gave his final speech in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday as the Leader of Government Business.
Mr. Farrell detailed the successes of his administration over it’s term in office to include the achievement of a 25 per cent increase in budgetary support from the UK, obtaining additional financing for the Port Development Project, and for critical services such as electricity, water and sewage.
He also highlights addressing the insolvency of the Social Security Fund, which is now on a firmer financial footing; changes to the wage structure of public servants to include the modification to teachers, nurses and police officers salaries to put them in line with other public servants; and the re-establishment of the Montserrat Tourist Board.
Premier Farrell confirmed that he would be a candidate in the upcoming General Elections, after handing over the leadership of the MCAP party to Dr. Samuel Joseph.
