Residents Warned To Be Vigilant In Efforts To Curb Spread of Chicken Pox

The Ministry of Health and Social Services is urging the public to be vigilant as efforts continue to curb the spread of chicken pox.

Health Promotion coordinator Penny Maloney says Chickenpox is a highly contagious viral infection, which takes 1 to 3 weeks for symptoms to appear.

She advises that persons seek medical attention once they see signs of the disease.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services issued a public health advisory on Tuesday in response to a recent increase in cases of chickenpox on island.

In an effort to contain its spread, affected individuals are asked to isolate themselves by remaining at home and avoid contact with others until fully recovered.
