Top Diplomat Calls For End To Colonization
A top regional diplomat is calling for the total decolonization of Montserrat and the rest of the Caribbean region.
Barbados’ Ambassador to CARICOM, H. E David Commissiong states that a total decolonization of the entire Caribbean region will stamp out colonial, imperialist pride and arrogance that have impeded regional progress for a long time.
Ambassador Commissiong adds that CARICOM, as the strongest Caribbean body, has a structure in place to bring non-independent territories into the fold either as associate or full members of the regional integration movement.
He cites Montserrat’s unique situation as a prime example.
Ambassador Commissiong supports the idea of CARICOM being open to non-independent territories coming in to the regional fold and acquiring valuable experience.
