Meridian Construction Project Manager Clears the Air Regarding Sand and Aggregate Issue
The project manager for Meridian Construction Company has sought to set the record straight as it pertains to the musings surrounding the sand and aggregate issue for the new Montserrat port development project.
Sand miners have voiced concerns that the local industry is being undermined by the project going overseas to secure sand an aggregate as against using what is available here.
But, in an interview with ZJB News, Peter Wattenhoffer, says the decision to import the product from the Dominican Republic was based simply on contractual specifications.
He said the local sand and aggregate unfortunately did not meet the required standard for construction of the pier.
Mr Wattenhoffer however states that on the flip side, there is a lot of material that would be used from Montserrat in different phases of the project.
