Montserrat National Trust To Release Book On History Of Herbal Medicine
The Montserrat National Trust will launch its Hidden Histories Herbal Medicine Booklet later this month.
The Trust says the book will be released along with a Children’s Colouring & Puzzle Book at the National Museum on Wednesday January 25th.
The organization, whose main goal is to protect Montserrat’s flora and fauna says the aim of the Hidden Histories programme is to shine a light on the past to shape future nature conservation efforts.
It looks at the fascinating history behind ‘weeds and bush’, medicinal non-native plants, including blue vervain, which have been a traditional part of life for hundreds of years.
The project which was launched in February 2022, aims to shine a light on the impact on the natural and cultural environment of colonial history in two UK Overseas Territories;focusing on non-native invasive species in the Cayman Islands and the medicinal use of non-native plants on Montserrat.
