Pink Ribbon Charity Announces Events for Breast Cancer Month

Early Prevention Saves Lives is the theme for the 2022 week of activities organised by Pink Ribbon Charity as Montserrat observes Breast Cancer Month.

Activities are scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 1, 2022, and go until Saturday, October 8, 2022.

President of the charity, Sonia Charles said support for this year’s week is already pouring in and more opportunities for women to get breast health checks have been added.

The charity annually raises money for its mammogram fund.

Through this fund more than 300 women have received life-saving tests in Antigua.

Pink Ribbon covers the cost of the mammogram for women in need.

Charles, a Clinical Specialist Sonographer says that all of the data shows that when breast cancer is identified early more women can fight it.

She explains that the longer a woman waits to be tested and eventually gain treatment the harder the road to recovery.

The week of activities begin with a fund raising barbecue on Saturday, October 1 at Olveston House.

Sunday, October 2 is a worship service with the members of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, followed by a BINGO at the Little Bay Market.

Breast cancer checks are scheduled Monday, October 3, Tuesday October 4 and Wednesday October 5 at the Cudjoe Head Clinic, St. John’s Health Centre and the Peter’s Health Centre from 1PM to 3PM daily.

Members of the Pink Ribbon Charity will be guests on Talking Health also on October 5th, followed by a Breast Cancer Awareness Evening with the Health Promotions Unit at the National Trust in Salem at 7PM

Everyone is encouraged to wear pink on Friday October 7 to honour those fighting breast cancer.

Activities culminate with the Annual Pink Ribbon Walk from Lookout to Little Bay Market on Saturday, October 8 at 5PM

The Pink Ribbon Walk has been held annually since the year 2009.

The Pink Ribbon Charity Montserrat was founded in 2013 and raises funds to support breast health and mammogram testing for women on Montserrat.
