Governor Tucker Encourages Self Sustainability as Montserrat Grapples With Inflation
Governor, Her Excellency Sara Tucker is encouraging self sustainability in the face of unprecedented high food and fuel prices.
Governor Tucker says she is very much aware that the Government of Montserrat is cognizant of the challenges faced by the people of the island, struggling with inflation.
However, while speaking on the programme “In the Hot Seat” on Wednesday, she indicated that the government is limited by what it can do because of the budget.
Rising petrol, food and energy prices have pushed many households in Montserrat and around the world into an unprecedented cost of living crisis, with reports of some persons finding it difficult to pay their monthly bills.
Governor Tucker acknowledges that times are tough but believes Montserrat has been shielded somewhat from the full effects of the war in the Ukraine.
