Montserrat Premier Expresses Congratulation to Grenada’s New Prime Minister

Premier the Honourable Joseph Farrell has congratulated the new Prime Minister of Grenada on his recent victory at the polls there.

The leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dickon Mitchell, was elected as Grenada’s 9th Prime Minister on June 23, 2022.

Premier Farrell expresses his support to the new government and adds that he looks forward to working together in future.

In his letter, the Premier says it is his honour, on behalf of the Government and people of Montserrat, to extend sincere congratulations.

He noted that Mitchell’s clear vision and ability to win the election against the most formidable odds was impressive but states that with this high office comes a new mantle of responsibility.

The Premier also assured Prime Minister Mitchell of the Government and people of Montserrat’s support and commitment to working together to strengthen the connections in the OECS and CARICOM Member States.

The 44-year-old Mitchell, and the NDC were victorious over the New National Party (NNP) in last Thursday’s general election, winning 9 out of the 15 seats that were up for grabs in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
