The Ministry of Education Announces the Closure of Government Schools

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has announced the closure of government schools.

These are Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary until Friday May 6. 

The Ministry of Education says it will continue to monitor the COVID rates in partnership with the Ministry of Health to advise on school operations.

It says further communication and directives will be shared with teachers through the Principals.

Meantime, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) is reminding persons to take the following steps to curb the spread of the virus.

These include practicing social distancing; wearing a face covering; washing and sanitizing hands often.

The ministry of health says persons should also stay at home if feeling unwell or experiencing flu-like symptoms, and isolate and call 496-7437 or 493-4755 for instructions on testing and care.

According to the last dashboard there are 89 active cases of Covid-19 on the island.

12 of the cases are vaccinated, 73 are unvaccinated and 4 are partially vaccinated.
