Government of Montserrat to Announce Initiatives Reducing Cost of Living Here
The Government of Montserrat is set to announce a series of initiatives to reduce the cost of living here.
Deputy Premier Dr., the Honourable Samuel Joseph says the Government is aware of the situation and recognizes that something has to be done to ease the burden on residents.
He announces that an adjustment to the fuel tariff is under consideration
He outlines that this would reduce the cost of petrol at the pump, which currently stands at more than 21 dollars.
The cost of liquid propane gas (LPG) or cooking gas has also been on the increase and the Deputy Premier says a subsidy on LPG is also on the table, along with a subsidy on gasoline.
Dr. Joseph reveals that the government is also examining the possibility of subsidizing the fuel surcharge on electricity bills.
