Montserrat Civil Service Association Stages Successful Labour Day Event
The Montserrat Civil Service Association held a successful march and rally on Labour Day, May 2nd.
The lively event, which included music began in Sweeneys and ended at Little Bay with a number of organized fun activities.
It was attended by dozens of workers from across several sectors, who were not deterred by the warm sun and concerns about the spread of Covid-19 infections on the island.
President of the union Nyota Mulcare highlighted a number of issues that are affecting workers. Among them workers rights and safety.
Mulcare raised the issue of rising cost of living.
Mulcare also raised concerns about staff shortages, recruitment practices and governance.
