Montserrat’s Leader of Government Business to Update the Public on a Number of Critical Areas within his Portfolio Including the Plan to Reopen the Island’s Borders

The planned reopening of the island’s borders to visitors and tourists will be high on the agenda when Premier, the Honourbale Joseph E. Farrell meets with the press tomorrow ( August 31st 2021).

The planned press conference is scheduled for the Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMC’s) media Centre Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00pm

Premier Farrell is also expected to provide updates on several matters within his portfolio to include but not limited to other areas such as Vaccination and vaccination; fibre Optic cable roll out to homes by local telecommunication providers Flow and DIGICEL, and the2021/22 Festival.

As it pertains to the island’s border, currently, only Montserrat nationals, contracted consultants and property owners are able to visit the island. 

Montserrat has been closed to tourists since March 2020.

A Service Ready training programme mounted by the Tourism Division here next month, is part of the build-up towards what should be a phased reopening of the island’s borders.
