A Local Medical Doctor Urges Critical Lifestyle Changes to Arrest Incidences of Stroke on Island

A local medical doctor is urging residents on island to invest in serious lifestyle changes to lower the incidences of strokes.

Speaking on the latest “What’s on your mind” radio programme, Dr. Ingrid Buffonge made the call against what appears to be an upsurge of persons being stricken by strokes on Montserrat.

Although pointing out that the “stroke” issue is nothing new with all the risk factors prevalent for years, Dr. Buffonge says people must make a conscious effort to control or prevent diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol levels, among others…

On the recent wave of deaths involving Montserratians both at home and in the diaspora, Dr. Buffonge, while not commenting of the matter directly, encourages people to take good care of themselves by accessing available health services.

She amplifies her call for those in charge, especially on island to step up their game to tackle other public health issues other than COVID-19
