Montserrat Teams up with Anguilla to Make Significant COVID-19 Vaccine Donation to the Bahamas
Montserrat has donated over a thousand doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine to the Bahamas.
The 1,496 vaccine doses arrived at the Lynden Pindling International Airport on Wednesday July 21st alongside an additional 2000 doses from Anguilla.
This donation means that the excess vaccine doses that were held in Montserrat and Anguilla will not go to waste before they expire on July 31.
Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of health, Camille Gerald, says it is a collaboration among the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, and the Governments of Montserrat, Anguilla and Bahamas.
Chairperson of the National COVID-19 Vaccine Consultative Committee and special health adviser to the Prime Minister of Bahamas, Dr Merceline Dahl-Regis, says the vaccines are a welcome addition to their current vaccine supplies and will be used to continue the administration of second doses.
She also expresses deep appreciation to the governments and people of Montserrat and Anguilla and the United Kingdom for what she describes as much-needed support.
