Ministry of Health Gets Support from Public Health England to Boost Vaccination Programme
The Ministry of Health and Social Service has welcomed a two-member team from Public Health England as it attempts to boost the local vaccination programme.
UK Overseas Territories Programme Advisor Professor Ian Cumming alongside Dr. Autilia Newton have been working with Ministry officials on raising awareness on the importance of the programme.
The Ministry of Health began the vaccination exercise on February 8th. To date 1344 persons have received their first dose while 1106 persons are fully vaccinated.
After a promising start the uptake of the vaccine has slowed in recent weeks.
Professor Cumming who was speaking at a press conference on Wednesday said his focus while here is to provide a higher level of expertise and knowledge to help ease the minds of residents.

Montserrat’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Shara Greenaway-Duberry in giving an update on the status of the vaccination programme revealed that only 24.5% of the general population have been fully vaccinated.
