International Discussion on Possibility of Vaccine Passport Evokes Keen Interest Here

Residents of Montserrat are looking on with keen interest as discussions continue internationally on a vaccine passport.

Several countries in Europe are now considering what is termed a green pass, which is a certificate meant to contain information on the holder’s Covid-19 vaccination and test results, or previous infections in order to travel.

Airlines and others in the travel industry are throwing their support behind the so-called vaccine passports to boost travel.

Technology companies and travel-related trade groups are developing and testing various versions of the vaccine passports, also called health certificates or travel passes.

It is not clear, however, whether or not any of the passports under development would be accepted broadly around the world.

Montserrat’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shara Greenaway Duberry in a recent contribution on talking Health said although the Caribbean was not yet at that stage, residents here should be aware of these developments.
