Opposition Member Calls for Unified Approach Tackling COVID Pandemic

An opposition Member of Parliament has called for a unified approach in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.

The Honourable David Osborne says the gravity of the situation demands that members of the Legislative Assembly come together to address the problems posed by COVID-19.

Montserrat is coming out of a three-week lockdown and Mr. Osborne believes an all-hands-on deck approach is what is required to get the island back on its feet.

Meantime…

The Leader of the Opposition the Honourable Paul Lewis is asking for an assessment of the overall impact of the lockdown, which ended on Sunday.

There is an ongoing poverty assessment and labour market assessment but Mr. Lewis regards those as informing a more medium to long term development strategy of the island.

He is therefore asking the government for an overall cost of the just ended lockdown.

The Government is rolling out a 2.1-million-dollar benefits package to help individuals and business who were affected by the lockdown
