The Royal Montserrat Police Service Investigates What Has Been Reported as a Shipwreck North-East of the Island

The Royal Montserrat Police Service (RMPS) continues its investigation into a reported shipwreck incident in the Bottomless Ghaut area on the north eastern side of the island on December 31st last year.

The RMPS says no one has been charged at the moment but a number of persons are in police custody assisting the police with the investigations.

The RMPS says it received information of a vessel running aground in the Bottomless Ghaut area on Thursday December 31st with a reported three persons onboard.

It says that from the information received, one is believed to be an Antigua national and two reportedly from the Dominican Republic.

A senior Police Officer told ZJB News that the three men claimed that they were out fishing when the mishap occurred.

He says the RMPS is currently looking at the circumstances surrounding the alleged shipwreck and are speaking to a number of locals to ascertain additional information.

The RMPS is appealing to anyone who has information to contact the organization.
