A Call for Prize Money Increase in Annual Christmas Lighting Competition

A call has been made for an increase in prize money for the winners of the Annual Christmas Lighting Competition.

Patricia Farrell-Daway, winner of the residential category in last year’s competition, is asking organizers to take into consideration the costs associated with participating in the competition.

Farrell-Daway says purchasing lights and other decorations, as well as the electricity costs of keeping the lights on during the judging period, are costly.

She adds that the increase would compensate for these expenses and also encourages more individuals to participate.

Farrell-Daway was at the time speaking on the Cultural Show radio programme where she highlighted that her love for Christmas is what drives her participation in the competition each year.
