Government Discusses Drag Strip with Motor Sports Association

The Government of Montserrat is working towards developing effective partnerships with sporting bodies on this island.

The latest effort was a meeting with Members of the Montserrat Motor Sports Association to review options for the proposed drag strip to facilitate drag racing in Montserrat.

In attendance at the August 17th meeting was the Minister of Communication and Works, Honourable Dr. Samuel Joseph, Minister of Agriculture Honourable Crenston C. Buffonge, officers from the Land Development Authority and the Lands and Survey Department.

Currently, drag racing takes place on the Cork Hill main road, a major carriage way used for transporting sand and aggregate, and to facilitate bus tours to Plymouth, and other areas south.

Member of the MMSA John Osborne Jr explains to ZJB news the importance of having such meeting.
