Concerns Raised About Mining in Plymouth
A Former Government Minister has grave concern about the possible expansion of mining zone into the abandoned former capital, Plymouth.
John Wilson said mining in the old capital would ruin one of Montserrat’s main tourist attractions.
Under the proposal by the Sand Miners group, mining would actually take place in Fort Ghaut on the fringes of Plymouth.
The decision is pending the completion of a consultation process by the Physical Planning Unit.
However, Mr Wilson stated on the breakfast show earlier this week that mining operations in the area would damage part of the island’s history.
