EU Delegation pleased with Montserrat's progress under EDF 11
The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean has given Montserrat’s implementation of projects under the European Development Fund 11 (EDF) high marks.
Speaking to ZJB News shortly before leaving the island Thursday morning, Her Excellency Ambassador Daniela Tramacere said Montserrat has achieved the first set indicator, triggering the release of the first tranche of funds.
She says based on her observations and discussions with key personnel, the island is well on its way to completing the second indicator, well ahead of the assigned timeline. Under EDF 11, the European Union has committed 18.4 million Euros towards projects related to renewable energy, tourism and infrastructure.
Ambassador Tramacere conveyed her confidence in the competence and work ethic of the senior government officers responsible for executing the projects. The EU Ambassador headed a team of EU Delegations to Montserrat this week as part of her tour to the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) which fall under her remit.
