CARICOM Pays Tribute To Bertrand Osborne
CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has expressed the Community’s condolence to the family of the former Chief Minister Bertrand Osborne on his passing.
Mr. Larocque also expressed condolences to to the Government and people of Montserrat.
Mr Osborne, who died on September, served as Chief Minister of Montserrat from November 13th 1996 to August 27th 1997.
The Secretary General remarks that this was a particularly difficult time in Montserrat’s history during the height of the volcanic crisis.
Ambassador LaRocque, in his Message of Condolence to Premier Donaldson Romeo, lauded Mr. Osborne’s dedication to politics and the private sector.
He noted that his “heightened sense of social responsibility will long be remembered in his native land.”
Mr. La Rocque says Mr. Osborne will be remembered for his integrity, honesty and trustworthiness which has been acknowledged by all regardless of political affiliation.
He says the Community extends its condolences to his wife Lystra, his children and the entire Osborne family and the Government and people of Montserrat.
