Change The Constitution If You Don't Like It

A member of the Legislative Assembly says changes can be made to the constitution if persons are not happy with it.

Dr. Samuel Joseph was referring to concerns expressed by some persons on the powers of the Governor.

Under the 2010 constitution the Governor has responsibility for defense, security, external affairs and the public service.

Speaking at the public consultation on Montserrat's future relationship with the UK, Dr. Joseph says there is a provision in the law that allows for the resumption of constitutional talks with Britain.

Dr. Joseph says the government and People of Montserrat should be more proactive and not wait on the British Government to make decisions for the island.
