Fly Montserrat Does Not Support Plans For Twin Otter Service

As the government advances plans to improve access to the island, the debate is heating up on the adequacy of the island's air link.

Currently Montserrat is serviced by nine-seater islander aircrafts, which some feel are inadequate, especially in peak periods such as Christmas and St. Patrick's Week. Nigel Harris, who operates Fly Montserrat believes at the moment his company is providing sufficient airlift.

Mr. Harris says the cost of air travel would reduce if the number of passenger movements increased.

Meantime, former manager of the John A Osborne Airport Norman Cassell has rubbished claims by Harris that Winnair ceased operations here because of low passenger movements.

Mr. Cassell says a Twin Otter service would provide options for travel on Montserrat.
