Police Officer Drowns At Woodlands Beach
The Royal Montserrat Police Service (RMPS) lost one of its officers this past weekend.
Officer Leon Cambpell drowned, while attending a function at Woodlands Beach on Sunday evening.
Police say they are awaiting the results of a post mortem to determine his cause of death.
The 34 year old was said to be swimming close to the shore when he encountered difficulties.
Police say the details are still sketchy as they have not to date interviewed eye witnesses who were at the scene, many of whom are still in shock.
Deputy Commissioner Charles Thompson said a psychologist and two local pastors were called in to provide counseling to several officers who have been impacted by the death.
Mr. Thompson has appealed to the public to be patient as they continue to conduct their investigation.
Meanwhile…The Office of the Commissioner of Police has expressed deep sympathy to the relatives and close friends of Leon Campbell.
The Commissioners Office says it has been in touch with Campbell’s immediate family and is doing its best to provide support.
