Farewell to UK Policy Adviser

Montserrat to see a new UK Policy Adviser to His Excellency the Governor and Head of the Governor’s office earlier than expected.

Holder of the Current position Mr Tony Bates will be leaving the island at the end of May, two months before scheduled.

Bates' early departure he said, is for personal reason which are not connected to his position on the island.

In a statement, Bates said living and working in Montserrat has been a fantastic experience and he have met, worked with and socialised with some wonderful people. 

He added that he and his wife will miss everyone and wish to thank them for their help, support and good company. 

Bates said Montserrat will forever be in their hearts and they look forward to returning on holiday in the future.

Bate’s successor will be announced in due course.
