Cook

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join the Governor's residence and office in Montserrat. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in planning, preparing, and presenting meals for various official functions and events hosted by the Governor's Office. If you are passionate about culinary arts, have experience in catering for large gatherings, and possess the necessary qualifications, we encourage you to apply.

CRITERIA

Education:

  • Completion of Secondary School Education.

  • Certificate in Food Preparation & Presentation Techniques.

  • Three (3) or more subject passes at O’ Level CXC or GCE in Food & Nutrition, English & Mathematics.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in planning and preparation of meals. Demonstrated experience in cooking for large gatherings or official functions. Experience in creating menus suitable for different occasions.

Skills:

  • Proficient in food preparation and presentation techniques. Knowledge of various cuisines.

  • Ability to create and adapt menus based on dietary preferences and restrictions. Familiarity with food safety and handling regulations.

  • Confidentiality

Record:

  • Clean record with no criminal convictions in this jurisdiction or elsewhere.

Availability:

  • Willingness to work flexibly, including 5 out of 7 days (which may not align with a standard Monday–Friday schedule), and occasional split shifts, as well as evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Team Player:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.

Adaptability:

  • Flexibility and adaptability to cater to different events and functions hosted by the Governor's Office.

RECRUITMENT NOTES

  • As part of the recruitment process candidates will be required to do a demonstration of their culinary skills (practical)

  • The successful candidate would be subject to security clearance

  • The role would be based at the Governor’s Office residence.
