Rotary Club of Montserrat Launches Period Passion Campaign

The Rotary Club of Montserrat has embarked on a month-long campaign to advance menstrual health literacy on Montserrat.

The campaign titled “Period Passion”, which is mainly aimed at female students between ages 13 and 18, is designed to share accurate information about the menstrual cycle, as well as alleviate period poverty by giving students essential hygiene resources.

In an interview with ZJB News on Monday, president of the Rotary Club of Montserrat, Michelle Cassell spoke on the main points of the initiative.

The month started with a social media campaign which serves as a platform to promote menstrual health awareness, education and empowerment for students and the wider community.

Students are also taking part in educational sessions with local doctors to strengthen their understanding of the menstrual cycle.

Cassell says at the end of the month, the students will showcase what they have learnt through the engaging event, “Flow with the Riddim Jam.”

The campaign also includes an invitation-only session on menopause facilitated by Her Excellency the Governor, Harriet Cross, to be held on September 18th.

Cassell says the “Period Passion” initiative is part of the organization’s basic education month.
