Members of the public will have an opportunity to acquire free general legal information and guidance from local attorneys later this month.
The opportunity comes through the Montserrat Bar Association’s “Bar Pro Bono Day”, which is carded for September 25th at the St. Patrick’s Co-operative Credit Union Hall, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Held under the theme “Lawyers Giving Back”, members of the public with legal questions will be able to speak with members of the Bar about a range of legal issues and receive general advice and guidance.
However, the Association says lawyers will not discuss or advise on matters currently before the Court or involved in ongoing legal proceedings.
It says the “Pro Bono Day” is intended to provide general legal information and guidance only.
Anyone requiring specific or ongoing legal advice, legal representation, document preparation or further legal action will need to privately engage an attorney-at-law.
The Bar Association says the initiative reflects its commitment to giving its time, sharing its knowledge and serving the community.
