Montserrat's Governor Appoints New Financial Intelligence Unit Supervisory Board
Fabian Singh has been appointed as head the New Supervisory Board of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
Her Excellency, the Governor, Sarah Tucker, appointed the new board on Tuesday.
The board comprises Representative of the Attorney General Office, Deron Boyce; Financial Secretary, Kenya Lee; Commissioner of Police, Mark Payne; Chief Immigration Officer, Charles Thompson; and Director General of the Montserrat Customs and Revenue Services, Peter W.A. White.
Claribel Figueroa-Garcia will serve as Secretary to the FIU Board.
Montserrat's FIU is the national authority responsible for receiving and analyzing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and other information related to money laundering, associated offenses, the financing of terrorism, and proliferation financing.
The FIU operates as an independent government department and law enforcement agency, led by an independent Director who reports to the Financial Intelligence Supervisory Board.
