Montserrat Concludes CDEMA Consultation on Strengthening Disaster Response

Montserrat has wrapped up its participation in the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) After Action Review of the Regional Response Mechanism (RRM) 2024 & Consultations on Building the Next Level RRM.

The consultation, which took place February 24-26, was used as a yardstick to gauge the island’s level of preparedness and resilience for any eventuality.

It brought together regional and international partners under the theme “Strengthening Response, Shaping the Future”.

The aim was to assess the effectiveness of disaster response strategies and explore ways to enhance resilience across the region.

This meeting, said to be particularly significant as it came just seven months after the multi-island impact of Hurricane Beryl, provided a crucial opportunity to review lessons learned and implement improvements for future disaster preparedness and response.
