CPA UK to Host Post-Election Seminar for Montserrat Parliamentarians

The UK Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA UK) will conduct a Post-Election Seminar for parliamentarians here this week.

The seminar which will run from Tuesday February 18 to Thursday February 20th is an opportunity for local parliamentarians to meet with a delegation of parliamentarians and parliamentary clerks from across the Commonwealth, UK Overseas Territories, and Crown Dependencies.

The visiting delegation includes Hon. Akierra Missick MP from the Turks and Caicos Islands, Deputy Carina Alves from Jersey, Mr Simon Ross from Guernsey, and Mr Liam Laurence Smyth from the UK.

The delegation made a courtesy call on Governor Her Excellency Sarah Tucker on Monday ahead of the discussions.

The seminar is a continuation of CPA UK’s work with Montserrat as part of the UK Overseas Territories Project (UKOTP).

In recent years, the project has organized post-election seminars for St Helena, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the British Virgin Islands.

Delivered in partnership with the UK National Audit Office and Government Internal Audit Agency, UKOTP supports good governance and oversight of public finances in the UK Overseas Territories.
