Montserrat Sees Surge in Air and Sea Passenger Arrivals in 2024

Montserrat has recorded a significant increase in both air and sea passenger movement in 2024 compared to previous years.

Figures received from the Access Division, reveal that the combined air and sea arrival figures for 2024 stand at 26,487, showing an increase from 24,161 in 2023 and 14,499 in 2022.

This marks a major improvement from 5,464 in 2021 when travel was heavily restricted. In 2020, the figures were at 12,785.

These numbers are yet to reach the pre-pandemic highs of 38,798 in 2019, 37,699 in 2018, and 37,407 in 2017.

According to the latest data, sea passenger movement totaled 6,190 in the first few months of 2024, rebounding from 3,262 in 2023. There was no ferry service in 2022 and 2021.

The highest recorded figures so far for 2024 were in March, with 3,664 passengers arriving or departing the island by sea.

This marks a considerable improvement from the same period in 2023 when only 581 passengers were recorded in March.

In 2024, there was a total of 20,297 passengers and in 2023, 20,899.

2022 held figures of 14,499 while 2021 was 5, 456 .

The busiest months for air travel in 2024 was March, with 2,346 passengers, and July , with 2,111 passengers.

Following closely behind is August with 2,081 passengers and December with 2,000 passengers.
