Aviation Fuel Shortage Continues To Impact Travelers
More bad news for travelers into and out of Montserrat, as the fuel shortage has taken another worrying twist.
Managing director of Fly Montserrat, Captain Nigel Harris spoke on the Breakfast Show on Tuesday giving an update on the situation.
He says the aviation fuel (AVgas) that was supposed to have reached Antigua on Monday did not, but would instead be reaching next week.
Captain Harris adds that Nevis, where they have been sourcing fuel, is running low on supplies, which leaves Fly Montserrat with limited fuel and a cloud of uncertainty for the upcoming weekend.
The Fly Montserrat managing director says the airline is trying to keep the service going, mentioning that there are ongoing talks between the airline and the Access Division, and the possibility of sourcing fuel in Guadeloupe.
Captain Nigel Harris also assures the public that fuel has been reserved for two medivacs in case of emergencies.
He is also advising persons wanting to check on their flights to go to the office instead of calling, as calls may not be answered. Harris also asked persons wanting to book flights to do so online where possible, due to the Fly Montserrat staff being preoccupied with this developing issue.
