Acting Auditor General of Montserrat attends Two-Day Meeting on Strengthening Supreme Audit Institutions

Acting Auditor General of Montserrat, Marsha Meade has engaged colleagues from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean on strengthening Supreme Audit Institutions.

The July 9th and 10th meeting took place in Mexico City, Mexico, and was organized to exchange knowledge and experiences on issues of relevance for the benefit and strengthening of SAls.

The last Joint Conference was held in 2020 amidst the global COVID-19 emergency.

Since then it was observed that various events linked to the pandemic, along with other diverse phenomena like climate change and natural occurrences, have maintained significance in the following years.

Recognizing the complex panorama, in which the uncertainty factor has been enhanced, the organizers chose the theme of "Audits for resilient futures".

The central axis of the discussions was how SAls, through their work, can contribute to the construction of a sustainable strategy in each country, which allows facing various threats, such as those arising from natural phenomena and the consequences of climate change.

According to reports, the dialogue between SAl’s in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean on their contribution to climate change mitigation and adaptation policies, as well as to disaster risk management, made the 10th Joint Conference a strategic space for the exchange of experiences and knowledge, the refinement of methodologies and the enhancement of capacities.
