Minister Responsible for Utilities Gives Update on Ongoing Repairs
Amid ongoing power outages on island, Deputy Premier and minister with responsibility for utilities, Dr. the Honourable Samuel Joseph has indicated that it would be some time before the problems are finally fixed.
The Government recently received approval from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for seven-million pounds or 24 million dollars to help the Montserrat Utility Limited (MUL) overhaul its electricity and water distribution systems.
Dr. Joseph says the Legislative Assembly still has to approve the new spending, while business cases and project documents are to be prepared and submitted for approval.
