Local Agriculturist Encourages Youth to Explore Different Agricultural Sciences to Help Boost Island's Economy

An agriculturist here is encouraging more young people to look into different agricultural sciences that can help boost the island’s economy.

President of the Montserrat Farmer’s Association, Claude Browne, says that farming is far from old-fashioned and there are many fields individuals can choose from such as crop production, food science, agricultural chemistry and forestry.

He was at the time speaking on the latest MSS: Enhancing Quality Education radio programme, under the topic, ‘How Important are Careers in Agriculture and Farming for Our Country’s Sustainability?’

Browne says that everything affects agriculture, including economics and climate change.

He also says that individuals can become specialists in various fields within agriculture.
